No need to choose sides
My journey through dealing with my parents' divorce began when I was 7 or 8.
My mother told me and I was devastated. I couldn't believe that my father, the man that taught me to love and to care could leave my mother. I cried and cried for hours - I didn't know what to say.
But as time passed, I slowly matured and learnt that life isn't all as it seems. I learnt about my parents' separation and why it happened. I'd rather see my father happy than sad. I learnt that there was no need to choose sides.
I am happy that I never chose a side, because I knew my parents could teach me valuable lessons and morals in life! I found out that I needed them, that I needed both their guidance in life.
I am now 15 living with my mother, coping with this change in my life.
